I grew up in New Paltz, NY and attended SUNY Oneonta where I majored in Communications with minors in Public Relations and Business Communications. After graduating, I moved around a bit, primarily working in retail & sales roles in the cycling industry before I got into digital marketing and SEO.
In my free time I’m an avid runner and mountain biker who enjoys spending time outside. I have a DSLR that I play around with in my free time (all the photos on this site are mine) and I’m always interested in how things work and building things.
Professional Background: Agency Work
In 2014 I got into marketing part-time for a one man agency with a handful of local clients. When I decided to go full-time, I took a position at DragonSearch in Kingston, NY where I worked with a team of 20 to serve local, national and international clients.
During my time at DragonSearch I dabbled in a bunch of different forms of digital marketing – SEO, PPC, Analytics, Web Design, Social Media – before discovering that SEO and Analytics are my true specialties.
In 2015 I left DragonSearch to take a position at Seer Interactive in Philadelphia where I could focus solely on SEO and hone my skillset working with a team of 100+ super savvy digital marketers. Seer’s a phenomenal company that’s provided me tremendous opportunity.
In March 2017 I started Chris Berkley Digital Marketing while still at Seer, providing agency-level knowledge and strategy with greater agility. Even early on, I knew I’d eventually start my own business and after four years working for agencies, I decided to start my own.
SEO Experience & Skills
One of my proudest skills is my ability to adapt to a myriad of different industries and develop dynamic SEO strategies that drive results while still taking into account business considerations, industry constraints, and limitations.
I’ve worked with clients in healthcare, education, software, web hosting, construction, real estate, the hospitality industry – I’ve been able to take my knowledge of digital marketing and translate it into strategies that drive real, measurable results. Truth be told, the digital marketing industry (SEO especially) doesn’t offer a lot of industry-recognized certifications. The industry is so fast-paced, it’s difficult to even find college courses that teach it.
Nevertheless, I’ve obtained the following certifications which are relatively common for professional in the digital marketing industry:
- Google Analytics
- Google Tag Manager
- Google AdWords
Periodically I book speaking engagements about digital marketing and SEO. To date those include:

- Goldman Sachs’ 10,000 Small Businesses panel
